APC Kathmandu Celebrated Women’s Day

Aashish Presbyterian Church (APC), Kathmandu, celebrated Women’s Day on March 10 in lieu of March 8 as March 10 was the nearest Saturday to March 8 for Church service. The idea was to integrate Women’s Day totally into the Church. The celebration was planned by the Women’s Fellowship with Mrs Pabita Pradhan leading the service and Mrs Danmeet Sharma sharing from the word of God. Mrs Sharma was felicitated for her service to Christians. The Women’s Fellowship presented a hymn specially practiced for this service. Mrs Pandi Bhattarai organized a quiz from the book of Esther to symbolize the respect for women leaders who protected their people. Pauline Lepcha scored the highest (96%) in the quiz. Rebecca Rai came second with 88% and Kumari Shrestha and Doma Lama stood third scoring 76%. The celebration ended with games for the grown ups where Manoj Shrestha was able to get rid of the “Hot Potato” to the very end! And the children enjoyed jumping up to snatch the toffee with “hands tied” behind them! Nepali snacks of maasu-cheura-achar were served too. Mariam Pun didi of Dadeldhura was with us during the celebration and Mrs Yen Suk of the Korean community in Nepal joined us for the service.
